SCREEN-USED PYRO TIE FIGHTER COCKPIT CANOPY

This is a piece that I have been looking for since I starting collecting original props.Pictured above is a screen-used cockpit canopy from a pyro TIE fighter used during the Death Star Battle.TIE parts are practically impossible to find so I am delighted to have finally found one of my collecting goals.Glue residue and scorch damage from the explosion are visible on the underside of the piece. While poring over the TIE explosions in ANH,and the Death Star battle in particular, there are few details to be seen with screen caps and a match is nearly impossible. However when watching the "Empire Of Dreams" documentary featured on the 2004 Original Trilogy DVD set there are extensive shots of the guys at ILM blowing the pyro models in front of the blue screens.Pictured above also is a capture from this showing the only time out of these explosions where a cockpit canopy from a TIE can be very clearly seen to be blown straight off the top.Although it cannot be certain that this is the piece in my collection it serves as an insight into how this piece would have been used and would have looked during the process of the pyrotechnic work.
This completes a superb set of miniature pieces used in the Death Star battle in A New Hope
